Safety following a car accident

When I was a young woman, I planned to move near my vocal teacher, and my parents loaned me their station wagon to carry my belongings to my new home. The car had just been overhauled, but I had an uneasy feeling as I got in. My mother, at the same time, felt compelled to pray for me and knew that I was "hid with Christ in God" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 370). When I turned on the ignition, the car raced down the driveway out of control and sped toward a busy intersection. The light signal was red, so I attempted a broad turn around the corner onto the boulevard at breakneck speed. My vehicle sideswiped an oncoming car and was turned around, headed for a tree on the side of the road. Even as this was happening, however, a calm message from God came to my thought that "nothing has ever happened to you before, and it will not now." The car crashed into the tree and was destroyed. I was unhurt, however, except for a bruise on my forehead from bumping my head on the steering wheel. An ambulance took me to the emergency room at a local hospital, where an X-ray confirmed that I was fine.

An X-ray confirmed that I was fine.
