Powerful prayer in the political arena
Recently, Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas spoke with Susan Kerr of the Christian Science Sentinel—Radio Edition about how he prays for honest government, and about the beneficial effects of such prayer.
Susan Kerr: Congressman Smith, what do you think are some of the most important issues in government that people need to be praying about these days?
Lamar Smith: At all levels of government—local, state, and federal—you can get into specific issues. For example, you're always considering how much or how little to spend for certain programs, whether or not taxes should be increased or decreased, and whether the size of government should expand or be reduced. But those are the kinds of issues that, quite frankly, change monthly or weekly, if not daily.
