ON THE SUBWAY, SURROUNDED ...

How much power does prayer reveal? All the power needed to eliminate any destructive activity. I know this because I have proved it.

Many years ago I was meeting my husband in the city to celebrate the occasion that we were expecting our first baby. I had to take a subway to get there. I was sitting on the train, all wrapped up in happy thoughts, when I became aware of a rowdy group of young male adults trying to get my attention. I tried to ignore the situation, but before I knew it there they were surrounding me. Their remarks were frightening. I looked around the train and saw no one to help me.

I later realized that God was my help. When the train stopped at a station, my first thought was to run off, but something said to me, "Be still." I felt like shouting or crying, and again the thought came, "Be still." I turned to God with all my trust in His care and goodness. This idea kept surfacing in my thought: "God made man in His image and likeness, and it was good."
