Injured arm restored to full use
Just after I moved into a residential community for Christian Scientists, I was enjoying a line dancing class. Not realizing that a shoelace had come undone, I tripped on it and fell heavily to the floor, landing on my hip and partly breaking my fall with my right hand and arm.
Others in the group gathered around, and I was grateful for their strong support and love. The teacher, however, who was unfamiliar with my religion, was quite alarmed. I assured him that I could get up and walk. But when I did, I became aware of severe damage to my right arm. I excused myself to walk the short distance home and to call a Christian Science practitioner.
She agreed to treat me, and the healing began then and there. Although the pain was considerable for a few hours, and I had no use of the hand and arm, I confidently spent my time quietly leaning on God. As God's perfect image and likeness, I could not possibly experience anything so untoward as a fall, and the ill effects I was struggling with were no part of me.
