Severe colic cured

Translated from German As a young woman, I often suffered from severe colic. Neither medication nor any other medical prescriptions helped me. I even spent some time in a clinic for observation, but there was no help or improvement there, either.

One day, when I was once more experiencing severe pain, the doctor indicated that an operation would be necessary. And he made arrangements to have me admitted to the hospital. As I was waiting for the ambulance to arrive, my mother-in-law, who knew about Christian Science, came by. She told me that this was all a big error that I was believing in.

She gave me Science and Health to read. It says at one point: "Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man" (p. 393). This convinced me that God could heal me, and I decided not to go to the hospital. Shortly afterward the pain diminished, and very soon it had completely disappeared, never to return.
