Christian Science versus racism
Racism is a belief in the superiority of one race over another based on the theory that human abilities are determined by race.
I have experienced racist treatment throughout my life—in grammar school, high school, the workplace, and even church. This treatment has been much easier to overcome since I began learning about the Science of the Christ. The foundation of this Science is that man is made in God's image and likeness, as perfect as his Maker. There's obviously no basis for racism in that understanding of man's true, spiritual nature.
When I began reading Science and Health, I was greatly impressed by the depth of character demonstrated by its author, Mary Baker Eddy. Her Christliness was evident even in the years prior to her discovery of the Science behind Jesus' life and works. I was especially glad to find proof of this in her attitude toward slavery.
