WORKPLACE
Downsizing and relocation
Many corporations have consolidated and downsized in order to cut costs. Remaining employed sometimes means moving to a new job out of state and even across a continent. At such times, prayer is an effective help. Through prayer we learn to listen for God's guidance. As the Bible says, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Prov. 3:6).
God answers prayer and provides the answers or direction for every phase of our lives. The chapter "Prayer" in Science and Health states, "Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind. Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds" (p. 1).
These words tells us that God already knows the good desires and intents of our heart and is ever at the helm, guiding us through all decisions in our lives. Trusting God with our desires is true prayer. Prayer acknowledges His ever-present good—the good that is going on continuously for everyone. Prayer calms and clears thought and as a result gives us the reassurance that dispels the fear in guesswork. It eliminates the feeling that we can be victims of chance.
