Thinking about work
"What do you want to be when you grow up?" Most all of us were asked this question when we were children. Even those of us supposedly "grown up" occasionally ask this of ourselves!
Have you ever noticed how the question implicitly equates being with work or career? What do you want to be? Or, "What do you do for a living?" A living?
The questions suggest that my job is my life, that my work is who I am.
