Safe in the environment of God's love
The fire alarm rang loudly in the middle of the night. Its unexpected noise woke everyone in our apartment building. My husband was the first to comprehend the sound and quickly hurried my young son and me outside along with our pets. It was soon determined that the alarm was due to a prank. The disgruntled residents were, after some time, assured that they could return safely to their beds.
I was relieved, but also uneasy, and this feeling did not leave the next day. The night's confusion had been unsettling, and I realized I needed to pray. Afterward, I would be profoundly grateful that I took time to do this instead of just dismissing the incident. What follows is some of the quieting revelations that helped me then, and later.
Christ Jesus said, "With God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26). He calmed a violent storm, walked on the water, fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish, and healed diseases. His teachings and his works reveal God as our loving Father, who has the tenderest regard for all His creation, including spiritual man. It was the law of divine Love that Jesus taught and demonstrated, and this law could not possibly have come from a wrathful, indifferent deity, a creator of both good and evil. Christ Jesus' demonstrations make it clear that the all-embracing law of Love is eternal, available to everyone now and anywhere.
