With a heart full of gratitude, I share a healing that took place several years ago. I hope it might benefit someone else who may be confronted with a similar situation.
When my sister was facing a serious illness, I met with members of the family at a local nursing home. There I was disappointed to learn that, because of her family's demands, she had stopped all Christian Science treatment and put her Bible and Science and Health aside.
Years before we had all grown up in the same little town, where my mother was an active Christian Scientist. I had never heard any unfavorable comments about Christian Science from these individuals. At this point, however, I should have been more alert to an intense dislike for what they thought Christian Science represented; I was also at this time First Reader in my church. One hateful remark directed right at me came specifically from a family member. It caught me off guard, and though I said nothing, I was hurt.
