"Are we really grateful for the good already received?...
"Are we really grateful for the good already received?... Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech." So writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 3 of Science and Health. It is time for me to act by testifying to my gratitude for Christian Science.
My first healing occurred when I was a young child. I had been helping my mother with the laundry. We had the kind of washing machine with a wringer on the top, into which clothes were fed. As I was guiding some clothing into the wringer, one of my fingers got caught and was very badly injured.
My mother was new to Christian Science at this point. I remember her calm assurance that God would heal my finger. She wrapped a bandage around it and called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. I accepted God's love for me and was not concerned about the finger. I went to school and participated in activities without incident. I don't recall just when the healing came, but in a short time the finger was completely healed, solely through prayer.
