"God is responsible for the mission of those whom He has anointed," wrote Mary Baker Eddy in Miscellaneous Writings. Little did I know that by cherishing a simple but sincere desire to help others, I would bless thousands of individuals. But let's go back to where the story begins.

During a time of unemployment, after I had had several unfulfilling jobs, I applied for and received class instruction in Christian Science. When I got back home I realized a desire I'd not recognized before: to do something for my community. Shortly thereafter, I began substitute teaching at various local public high schools. One morning I received a call from the placement secretary. She said she was about to call another substitute, but something had told her to call me instead. There was an art department position at a public high school near my home, and the school needed a substitute for an indefinite period of time. I began at this school and several months later accepted a permanent position.

One of the subjects included in my teaching schedule was photography. Knowing little about the subject, I began researching and collecting textbooks and classroom aids. After seven years I was asked to help rewrite the photography curriculum for the entire county.
