I want to tell you about why I am a student of Christian Science
I want to tell you about why I am a student of Christian Science. When I was a high-school student, one of my friends invited me to attend a Christian Science Sunday School, which I did. My mother was impressed enough to buy me the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I read it occasionally. When I met my husband, who had been brought up in Christian Science, I was able to converse with him about it.
Soon after we were married I had a physical problem. I was unable to open my mouth more than a half inch, which caused severe eating problems. This lasted quite a long time, but I never went to a doctor, as I was really not one to do that anyway. I guess I just hoped the difficulty would go away.
One day my mother-in-law, who was a Christian Science practitioner, asked me if I would like to have her pray for me about the problem. I told her, "Yes, if you would like to." So I sat in a chair across from her and silently watched while her head was bowed in prayer. I really did not know what to expect, not knowing much of anything about praying or about God, either. After about twenty minutes she said to me, "We can expect good results in healing."
