Since my days in a Christian Science Sunday School, I have...

Since my days in a Christian Science Sunday School, I have always carried with me the words "God is love," which were written on the front wall. Together with the words "God's unerring direction" they have been of constant comfort. The latter words are part of Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." Twice during automobile trips, imminent accidents were averted when I affirmed in prayer God's unerring direction of everything in His creation. I then had the needed guidance in each case to do the right thing to avoid a disaster.

I have recently had occasion to demonstrate my growing faith in God's all-power. For a long time I had a wartlike blemish on one cheek, near my eye. It was irritating, and I prayed to understand that it was unknown to God, divine Mind, who is conscious only of goodness and perfection.

Then this blemish started to become much larger. It became inflamed and very sensitive. I then recognized I had to pray to heal my fear, for I was aware that I'd heard a great deal of talk about cancer. I held my thoughts to the words "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (Science and Health). I prayed to see man's unblemished perfection as God's child. After a few days of this specific prayer and study, I discovered the growth was getting smaller and smaller. One day it simply rubbed off, and I knew the healing was complete.
