About two years ago I experienced great pain in my hands...
About two years ago I experienced great pain in my hands when lying down at night and often during the day as well. I had to sleep in an armchair with my feet on the ground. My hands, feet, and ankles became swollen, and at that point I had strength to perform only the lightest tasks.
I asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me. It was comforting to talk with her, as she daily gave me fresh inspiration and encouragement. Her prayer was a vital support.
It appeared that I needed to pray more consistently for myself and to identify myself more specifically as the loved daughter of God, spiritual, perfect, and immortal. I prayed to become more deeply convinced that God had not only made me in His image and likeness but that He maintains me as such. I came to realize more clearly than before that the material body is subject to the quality of one's thought. I asked myself what God, divine Mind, knew about me and did my best to claim my God-given dominion over the apparent illness. First thing each morning I studied the weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly, which gave me new views of God and my true self as His expression.
