FROM THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PUBLISHING SOCIETY
Twentieth-Century Biographers Series
At Annual Meeting this past June, The Christian Science Board of Directors announced a new series of biographies of Mary Baker Eddy, to consist of more than a dozen volumes, some previously published but now out of print, and some to be issued for the first time. The first four titles in this series to be released include both new and familiar biographies of Mrs. Eddy: Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait by Lyman P. Powell, Mary Baker Eddy and Her Books by William Dana Orcutt, The Destiny of The Mother Church by Bliss Knapp, and Mary Baker Eddy, Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science by Louise A. Smith.
The purpose of the Twentieth-Century Biographers Series is to offer an expanded shelf of biographies, by firsthand observers and other qualified biographers, about the Founder of Christian Science. Public interest in Mrs. Eddy is as strong today as it was in 1910, the year of her decease. And yet, in comparison with other major figures of the century, the number of biographies in print about her life and work has not increased in the intervening years. This series will extend the published record and provide a spectrum of viewpoints and insights into the life of Mrs. Eddy that will enrich future generations' understanding of her remarkable career.
The titles in this series, to be issued over the next several years, will be easily identifiable by a unique logo, the series name, and a coordinated design.
