For many years Christian Science has made me aware of my oneness with an all-loving God, the Giver of all good, and this has enriched my life.
My mother's first child died in infancy, which made her overprotective of my welfare. Her fear for my health caused her, for example, to wrap me in heavy clothing and dose me with patent medicines every week. But instead of being protected from illness, I suffered with colds, sore throats, and many other ailments.
While growing up, I searched for a better understanding of the Bible and sought comfort from the teachings of various churches, but none of the religions I studied met my needs. Then, as an adult, I was introduced to Christian Science by a friend. At first I thought it strange that people would look to God for help instead of medical doctors. But because my husband suffered with severe stomach trouble, I agreed to read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, to him. Within weeks he was completely healed.
