"Prayer takes the needs of the world seriously"
Among the many topics the Sentinel has closely watched for nearly a century, none is more central than that of prayer—and, in particular, prayer's role in healing.
Comments on prayer by clergy and from the publications of other denominations have long found a place in the Sentinel.
The December 3, 1904, issue, for instance, quoted writers from several Christian denominations and included the following: "The various objects of prayer, personal, social, general, and worldwide, should be subordinated to the one desire that the kingdom of God may come.... That which is best for mankind as a whole is really best for each individual."
