I attended a large university in the South
I attended a large university in the South. My college years were filled with many challenges, academic as well as personal. During my junior year, a disease called viral meningitis affected many students on campus.
About two months into the fall semester, I woke one Thursday morning feeling very ill. The situation was worse than anything I'd ever experienced. My roommate, a pharmacy student, was going home for the weekend and offered to take me home to my family. Since I felt that traveling in a car was not possible, I telephoned my family for help through prayer. They began to pray, and my mother arrived the next day in the early evening.
During the night, my mother continued to pray for me. She also read to me from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and from Mrs. Eddy's other writings, as well as from the Christian Science Hymnal. At one point she read "God is Love." I remembered that this simple phrase was on the wall of the Christian Science Sunday School I'd attended. Suddenly I understood that God was all Love. And that He loved me! I saw that I didn't need to suffer. At that moment, the healing began.
