Soon after commencing my study of the healing truths...
Soon after commencing my study of the healing truths contained in the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I began to experience a spiritual rebirth. As a result of awakening to a more spiritual view of life, I was completely healed of a facial skin condition that had failed to respond to medication and had threatened to interfere with my employment prospects.
Another healing occurred while I was taking an active part in a stage musical. One morning I woke with symptoms of a fever. Although I remained in bed all day, unable to get up for a meal, I prayed to realize the spiritual nature of man as God's likeness. I also acknowledged that nothing could prevent me from taking part in my rightful activities.
In light of these words from Science and Health, I felt confident that I would be able to get to work that evening: "Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man."
