I Wish to share a healing that brought beauty, joy, alertness, and good health to a very dear grandson. The healing was the result of gaining a deeper understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him. The healing also came through study of the Bible, especially the life of Christ Jesus, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

When he was three and a half years old, our grandson, Charles, was diagnosed by doctors at a leading university as being autistic and dyslexic. The local school system conducted its own study based on this diagnosis and added "severe language disorder and aphasia." Charles spent one and a half years in the public school system's Special Education Program prior to entering kindergarten.

At the time, Charles was enrolled as a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School, which he attended regularly. My daughter and I had discussed the diagnoses, and she allowed me to pray for the boy. Science and Health states, "The children of God have but one Mind." Armed with the knowledge that in reality we are all the spiritual children of God and that we can have no mind separate from His, I held fast to this truth as I prayed about our grandson.

Christ Jesus said, "Wisdom is justified of her children" (Matthew). I often talked to Charles, telling him how much God loves him. It was clear to me that God does not give to one of His children and hold back from another. As the spiritual reflection of his Maker, in reality each child of God expresses the form, outline, and activity of the creator. I knew that in his true, spiritual selfhood, our grandson was perfect in God.

Charles entered kindergarten at the age of five. He did so well that he only stayed for one semester before going on to first grade. When he reached second grade, he was classified by the public school system as being a gifted child! This classification has continued throughout our grandson's education. Currently he participates in his school's gifted and talented program. He will have classes on a nearby university campus a certain number of hours each weekday, from grade six (which he is in now) through high school. The program also provides a four-and-a-half-year college scholarship.

I am deeply grateful to God for this wonderful healing; for the Scriptures; for Christ Jesus our Way-shower; and for his devoted follower, Mrs. Eddy, and her unselfed love for God and mankind.

I wish to corroborate my wife's testimony regarding the healing of our grandson Charles. It was a dark and dreary day when we were told that he was autistic. This can no longer be said, for he has been healed—proof that the truths of the Bible and Science and Health are effective. I am very grateful to have witnessed this healing.

I wish to verify the statements concerning the healing of our son Charles, made in my mother's testimony. Her account of the whole experience describes a situation that has been completely healed through Christian Science.

In effect, an unjust sentence had been placed on our son. We were told that he was autistic, living in his own little world, and that he would be that way for the rest of his life. It is with hearts full of gratitude that we now have a happy, healthy child, who is both healed and free.
