For children
Something special for Sam
I'd like to tell you about Sam. He has his name on his pencils, on his own mug and plate, even on some balloons and on his belt. Having your name printed on something shows it's definitely your own.
Another thing to tell you is that Sam and his folks are Christian Scientists, so they are used to praying and knowing the truth that God loves and cares for His children every moment.
Well, one night the truth didn't seem so clear to Sam because he had earache and it felt very real indeed. His mother wrapped him in a blanket and took him downstairs so as not to wake the others in the family. They snuggled in the armchair by the fire, and Mother opened Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She read the question "What is man?" and then started to read the answer: "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements. The Scriptures inform us that man is made in the image and likeness of God. Matter is not that likeness." Science and Health, p. 475.
