"Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you" (II Chron. 20:17). The truth of this Bible verse was made real to me with the birth of my last child.

Throughout the pregnancy I did specific Christian Science study to overcome every physical and mental challenge associated with pregnancy and childbirth that appeared in my experience. I worked with a Christian Science practitioner during these months and through prayer was healed of sleeplessness and fatigue and of anxiety that the baby might not be born healthy.

I learned so much in the time preceding the birth. I was released from a very intense fear of labor when I realized that fear is really a lack of trust in God. By the day of delivery I was calm, joyful, and totally expectant of good, knowing God, Love, was right with us all. My prayer, and the study of Christ Jesus' healings in the Bible and of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy over the course of the pregnancy, had spiritually prepared me for the childbirth. I trusted God's promise in Isaiah (66:9): "Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth?"
