Something more than expediency
"Look, it's taken care of. Isn't that what matters?"
Without any further details you'd probably not be willing to concede that's all that matters—in any situation. Perhaps such reluctance hints at a wisdom and spirituality of which we may not even be aware.
There was an occasion when Christ Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem with some of his followers. See Luke 9:51–56 . They were to pass through a Samaritan village on the way. When the Samaritans learned where Jesus was headed, they did not welcome him, for there was considerable hostility between the Samaritans and the Jews. When James and John saw the inhospitable response to their arrival, they asked the Master, "Wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?"
