One day I was over at my friend's house and I had no shoes...
One day I was over at my friend's house and I had no shoes on. We were playing outside and I accidentally stepped on a rusty nail that was sticking out of a fallen fence. The first thought that came to me was this: God is Love and His love surrounds me. I cannot be separated from God.
My friend's mother washed my foot, and then my friend pulled me home in her brother's wagon. When I got home, my father was there. I told him what had happened, and he helped me feel better. But I still cried a lot because my foot hurt. My mother was at a Wednesday night testimony meeting. When she got home I told her what had happened, and she sang some hymns to me. I finally went to sleep.
The next day I didn't go to school. I listened to a record [put out by The Christian Science Publishing Society]—"Small Voices and Little Fingers"—which I like. This helped me a great deal not to be afraid or to believe that God would let me be hurt.
