Church and employment need not conflict
Have you ever felt the need or desire to change your job? Few jobs are perfect, and sometimes when there are problems, we may be tempted to think the only way to solve them is by changing our place of employment.
If our experience includes such negative thinking, it's not because God has ceased to care for us. It's because we fail to recognize and to accept His ever-present love for every one of His spiritual ideas. These ideas include the true being of you and me (man, who the Bible tells us is made in His likeness). The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, assures us in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "God is infinite, therefore ever present, and there is no other power nor presence." Science and Health, p. 471.
There may be a number of contributing factors in our work that would make a change of job beneficial. But a change is not the inevitable and only way to ensure our future prosperity. We may do better to regard unhappiness with our jobs as a challenge to our integrity and courage. This is what I did some years ago when I was unhappy with my work schedule.
