While in my second year of high school I had a wonderful healing. One evening I suddenly became unconscious and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital. (I had not been ill prior to this time.) Doctors diagnosed the case as pneumonia. After several days of giving me medication (I was still unconscious), the medical staff concurred that they could do no more for me. The doctors told my parents that they were giving me no more medication because they had lost all hope for my recovery.

At this pronouncement my mother recalled that her father had experienced blessings, in many ways, through the study and application of Christian Science. With my father's consent, she hastened to a telephone and called the first name listed under the heading "Christian Science Practitioners" in the classified directory. After learning of my situation and the doctors' verdict, the dear practitioner who answered spoke to Mother lovingly for a few moments and agreed to pray for me. A few hours later I became conscious. Instructions not to give me medication were observed by the hospital staff.

In speaking to my parents, the practitioner explained the need of releasing a false sense of responsibility for me and of fully trusting me to our Father-Mother God. My progress from then on, though gradual, was sure and steady.
