Prayer and divine satisfaction

There's a quiet peace that comes with turning to God, as all who pray regularly know. Prayer provides answers to our deepest questions, brings us joy and an inner reassurance of God's constant guidance. How worthwhile, then, to turn to God, to start our day, and indeed to continue throughout the day, from a standpoint of prayer.

What such silent, heartfelt listening to God does for us is to align our thoughts and actions more closely with divine Truth and Love so that we may experience His irresistible goodness in our lives. As Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, "Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it." Science and Health, p. 2.

"The Science of being" reveals the unity of God and man—God as the divine creator, and man as His eternal creation or reflection. The law of God's absolute supremacy governs His creation, and therefore man is safely held in the goodness that God, divine Love, is expressing. Our true selfhood as God's spiritual idea, man, is now the eternal recipient and expression of divine goodness. We find that as we drop the erroneous concept of ourselves as mortals who are cut off from God and yield to His power and presence, we experience and enjoy Love's provision, guidance, and care.
