The people have to know it
As I was waiting for the elevator in the apartment house where I live, another tenant said, "I'm puzzled." When I asked him why, he replied, "Tell me, is God in charge of all people's lives?" My reply was, "Yes, He is. But the people have to know it." There was a moment of silence; then he indicated that the point had been made. As he left the elevator, he thanked me. I was grateful too, for I realized that God had shown me how to answer him. This was another proof that God is in charge.
To the material senses there seems to be good reason for uncertainty about God's control. The media constantly remind us of the threat of nuclear war, of diseases, addictions, accidents, hatred, intolerance, crime.
How do we cope with these conditions? By learning more of God and His government of man and the universe. In the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes, "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony." Science and Health, p. 390.
