Pitching our arks

"Pitch it within and without with pitch." Gen. 6:14. These instructions are as valuable today as they were when God gave them to Noah. But who builds arks these days?

Part of the definition of "ark" Mrs. Eddy gives in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, is, "Safety; the idea, or reflection, of Truth, proved to be as immortal as its Principle; the understanding of Spirit, destroying belief in matter." Science and Health, p. 581. Can't we say, then, that all who are striving to follow Christ Jesus' example in proving that a correct understanding of Spirit, God, heals sickness and sin, are in the ark-building business? Let's assume this includes you and me. Our ark must be established in our own consciousness; our pitch, the ever-deepening grasp of God's nature, which we gain through our study of Christian Science.

The very first chapter of the Bible assures us that God created everything. Seven times it emphasizes the fact that He saw what He had made, and it was good. Man, made in the likeness of Spirit and therefore spiritual, has to be entirely good—perfect in substance, form, character. In reality he knows, sees, and experiences God's own goodness; for God is infinite. There's no outside to His allness.
