The sword of Truth
Only the Christ holds the sword,
unsheathed, supreme;
unflinching steel to evil aim,
pliant staff to pure desire.
Bigot and hypocrite felt the tip;
but the staff nourished the hungry,
healed the sick, made dead to live,
and later—"Father, forgive . . . ."
Christ-led,
I take the judging steel—
pierce the false,
disclose the real.
