At one time I was alone, staying at a hotel abroad

At one time I was alone, staying at a hotel abroad. Life seemed vacuous, without meaning. In my lengthy search for a firm foothold, which had included an appeal to a Protestant church for help, I had not found a satisfactory answer to my problems. Yet, as these words of Christ Jesus assure us (Matt. 7:7): "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

At the hotel I fell into conversation with a Danish couple. When I got up to go, the man handed me a magazine, commenting that I seemed to need it. The magazine was The Herald of Christian Science, and it was just what I needed. I read it through right away and knew immediately that Christian Science was my answer. It reveals the truths of spiritual existence, based on God as the divine Principle of all being.

After I had returned home to Copenhagen, I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked her for an appointment. I will never forget the love with which I was received; it impressed me as having its source in Deity. As I left, I sang silently, "God is Love, and He loves me."
