How different my life is now that I am relying on Christian Science to provide a sure Science of living! When I was a child, I attended a Christian Science Sunday School for a few years. But in my teens I became an active member of another denomination. As a young woman I taught Sunday School in that church. One day a pupil asked, "How do you really know there is a God?" The answer that came forth shared all the loving ideas of God I had learned in my childhood. And with awe I realized that these answers were the truths of Christian Science.

At the first available moment, I dusted off the copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy that my parents had given me as a youngster. By then I was a mother myself, and I was deeply concerned about the world my children were growing up in. The book was so clear and logical, so full of the answers I was hungering for, that I couldn't put it down.

My first healing occurred one day when I picked up an electric griddle heated to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I missed the handle and grabbed hold of the griddle itself. Letting go, I stood there, calmly acknowledging that God is All, embracing man in His all encomepassing love. The pain quickly receded. I didn't look at the hand for several hours, but whenever it came to mind, I recalled what I was learning about my true selfhood as being completely spiritual. And I felt grateful that God was answering my prayer in such a wonderful way. The next time I noticed my hand, I was happy to see that there was no evidence of burn.
