Friendly light
I used to be afraid of dark,
Imagining scary dangers—
Shadows drifting in my room were
Monsters, spooks, and evil strangers.
My thoughts were causing all my fear
Of what I knew was really not,
For when I filled the room with light
It was a safe and cozy spot.
God's presence is a friendly light,
It never tricks or scares,
And if I listen to God's thoughts
I find His constant care. Caroline Seller Dunlap
