Purpose for living
Christ Jesus held the key to triumphant living. His earliest recorded words about his mission were spoken at Jerusalem when he was only twelve. Mary and Joseph had taken him along for the Passover, and Jesus had stayed behind without their knowledge.
After three day's search they found him in the temple with the doctors of the law. Jesus asked: "How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" Luke 2:49; At twelve, Jesus already knew his purpose for living.
About two decades later, when nearing the end of his remarkable career, the Master had been brought before the court presided over by Pontius Pilate. He was charged with being a malefactor. During the whole trial—a travesty of justice—Jesus spoke very little. But in answer to a question of Pilate's the Master reiterated his life purpose: "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth." John 18:37;
