Many years ago I emigrated from England to Canada
Many years ago I emigrated from England to Canada. Then I married and had four girls. One of them became ill, and a doctor was called to see her. The next day this daughter had convulsions. This filled me with fear. A neighbor, who I later learned was a Christian Scientist, heard about the situation. She came to our house, took the child in her arms, and walked with her along the porch. In an hour and a half she returned with the youngster, who was asleep. When our daughter woke, she was completely healed. The woman had prayed for her, realizing her true nature as God's idea. The next day the doctor came, but he could not believe the child was healed. So I lined up the four girls to show him they were all well.
Later someone explained Christian Science to me. I visited a Christian Science practitioner in our town and knew this would be my religion. My husband began reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and said, "We've found something really good!" From then on we attended services in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. The children were enrolled in the Sunday School.
We have had many healings. One daughter had a forty-foot fall off a bridge, with only an injured wrist. People in town were amazed she survived. I have been a member of The Mother Church for forty-seven years. Service in my branch church has included the positions of First Reader and soloist. I am now in my eighties and am happy to declare that "to those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (Science and Health, p. vii).
