A few years ago I was suffering emotionally, and felt unable to cope with my life. I found my way back from this despair to normalcy and a happy life through the truths learned in Christian Science.

My position as a professor in a state university was a happy one, and I was making progress professionally. However, soon after being awarded a faculty grant to study in a foreign country, I began to experience a period of deep depression and wondered if I were doing the proper thing by going. I could not get out of this cheerless state.

Eventually I did go for a term of study abroad, and the experience was interesting but not as joyful as it should have been. When I returned home, instead of giving the new course for which the grant prepared me, I felt so depressed and weak that I resigned my position.
