The continuing adventure
Years ago I had a bustling little Pekingese. One morning in London's Kensington Gardens she was having a great time chasing pigeons, which were nearly as big as she was.
On a slope by the Serpentine (a large artificial lake) she flushed a fat pigeon and gave glorious chase. The bird, sensibly, took to its wings, but Yu-Tu continued to tear after it, her head in the air, watching it. As the bird flew over the Serpentine, the dog, all unaware, plunged into the Serpentine. But so intent was she on the chase that she hardly noticed the change. That was how she learned to swim!
