Jonah and the whale
This is a Bible story about a man who thought he could run away from God. See Jonah 1–3; The man's name was Jonah. Jonah decided to run away because God told him to do something he didn't want to do: "Jonah, I want you to go to a big city called Nineveh. In this city there are many people. They are doing very wrong things. Your job is to tell these people to do right."
But Jonah was afraid. Jonah was afraid because there were many people doing wrong things at Nineveh, and he was only one person. So Jonah gave up the plan of going to Nineveh. Instead he decided to go to Tarshish, which is a city far from Nineveh.
Jonah was trying to run away from God. But he couldn't really. First Jonah went to Joppa. There were many ships at Joppa. He found one of them that was going to Tarshish, so he paid his money and climbed into the ship.
