Christian Science saved my life

Christian Science saved my life. One evening when I went to bed, I felt very ill. I appeared to be suffering a heart attack. All I could say or think was, "God is my Life." I kept praying these words until I felt a little better. I was in bed two months. Two of my brothers had passed on with heart trouble. They had been given full medical care. The fear came to me many times that maybe I would not make it. As I read the Bible, and also Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I was inspired to write passages on a memo pad. They are as follows: (Science and Health, p. 584), "Day. The irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love." (Psalms 56:4), "In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me." (Psalms 28:7), "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him." (Psalms 139:23), "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts." I pondered these verses many times.

As I was reading the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly one day, the Golden Text was Joshua 1:9, "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." I memorized this verse and applied it to my need. My healing, which followed, has been complete.

Words cannot express my gratitude for dedicated Christian Science practitioners—for their prayerful work, night and day. I am also grateful for the loving Christian Science nurse who came to be with me when I was alone. My daughters and granddaughter were a great help to me.
