A few years ago I was faced with many physical problems, one of which was double vision. It was necessary for me to stop working because it was dangerous for me to drive back and forth to work.
At this time I was asked to be librarian at our Christian Science branch church Reading Room. After giving this a great deal of prayerful thought, I agreed to accept the post. Each day as I went to the Reading Room, I sang hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. Especially inspiring was one that begins with these words (No. 139): "I walk with Love along the way." With the help of a Christian Science practitioner, I prayed to spiritualize my concept of my brother men. I was believing I could see two men—the mortal concept and the immortal, spiritual idea of God's creating. Once this was realized, I endeavored to see the true man, the perfect idea of God. As my thought cleared and I was no longer trying to focus in two directions, spiritually and materially, I better saw only one man, the man of God's creating; and with this progress toward a more enlightened understanding I was healed.
I am grateful for the Christian Science practitioner who worked with me, and for Christian Science teachers who continually help their students to overcome material limitations. I am grateful, too, for the support we receive from all provisions for our enlarged understanding of God and His law supplied by the Christian Science movement—such as the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the Christian Science lectures and periodicals, which make our study of this Science so meaningful.
