SONG OF FREEDOM
Paul and Silas,
Beaten, imprisoned,
Filled the darkness
With songs of joy.
Feet in the stocks,
They followed their Master.
Their song moved the earth,
Broke chains,
Flung doors wide,
Captured the jailer—
For Christ!
Where is the prison
That can withstand
The battering ram
Of a joyful heart?
Turn the tables on darkness!
Break through to freedom—
With a song!
Margaret M. N. Higson
