Have a Good Time

[For children]

What a wonderful day it was going to be! As she and her friend, Susan, jumped from the car and dashed across the hot, white sand in their bare feet, Cindy could see the surf crashing on the beach.

She and Susan always had a good time when they went to the beach. But today was really special because Susan and her parents had invited her to a barbecue picnic. And Cindy loved picnics!

After swimming awhile they decided to closer to the fire pit, where they could smell the sizzling food. It seemed like a long wait for dinner, and soon they began to dance around the fire pit, just acting silly. Cindy really knew better. Many times her teachers at the Christian Science Sunday School or her parents had talked with her about the importance of always listening to the Christ, including those quiet, wise thoughts which come to us from God. This time, though, she wasn't listening and didn't pay attention when the loving thought came, "Move away from the fire."
