Christian Science Church Center
PROGRESS REPORT No. 15
One of the most beautiful areas in the Church Center will be the site and immediate surroundings of the new Sunday School building. Situated at the west end of the reflecting pool, the three-story building, with its bright architectural concrete and sparkling glass, will be mirrored by the water nearby. Its quarter-circle shape will turn toward The Mother Church, only a few steps away. Its curved glass walls will give the children an unbroken view of the entire Church Center.
Entrance into the Sunday School will be from the plaza, surfaced at this point with a warm-colored brick. The same material, waxed and tightly jointed, will be used for the floor of the Sunday School lobby. From the inside, the glass walls will give the impression of tall, curved windows set between concrete columns.
At the rear of the lobby will be a curved wall, and in front of this will be desks and exhibit cases on concrete pedestals. The desks will be used for registration data and records, the cases for library displays.
