Christian Science Can Heal Loneliness
Loneliness is a problem confronting many people today. At some time or other, through loss or separation, almost everyone is faced with the necessity of solving this problem. At such a time each individual has the opportunity to awaken and learn that it isn't the presence of a material personality he needs but spiritualization of his thought.
When, after some seemingly tragic experience, we find ourselves going through a painful adjustment, where are we to look for comfort? Mrs. Eddy writes: "Would existence without personal friends be to you a blank? Then the time will come when you will be solitary, left without sympathy; but this seeming vacuum is already filled with divine Love. When this hour of development comes, even if you cling to a sense of personal joys, spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth." Science and Health, p. 266;
Our heart cries out in such a lonely hour and searches diligently for the answer. Only God can give the answer, and He works in each of us, in individual consciousness, to make the activity of the Christ apparent in human affairs.
