"A penny a day"
[For young adults]
Men, women, and young people are deeply concerned that their work should be interesting, productive, and useful, as well as adequately rewarded. Some feel that they are already happily working in their right place for a fair wage. Others are seeking to better their positions, to find more congenial employment and more harmonious relationships with their fellow workers. Still others feel frustrated, bored, or unhappy in their daily work. Some have no job at all. Thinking workers who are Christian Scientists study to find out more about their true work and its worth.
The Bible gives many directions for finding our right place of work. God gave Moses the promise, "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared." Ex. 23:20; Moses and his people had been led safely from Egypt and its privations and hardships. They were on a long journey that was eventually to bring them to the Promised Land, the land for their inheritance and their work.
Throughout the Old Testament as well as the New many other examples of God's guidance to men could be mentioned. Ruth went with her mother-in-law to a foreign land. Trusting God, she gleaned corn in the fields and had enough for their needs. Later her future was assured.
