I am so grateful for Christian Science

I am so grateful for Christian Science. Through this religion I have learned that "desire is prayer" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 1). As a child I prayed for a religion I could understand; and then a few years later, when I moved to another city, I lived with a family of eight. One in this family was a Christian Scientist. Through her I became interested in the religion and had two years in Sunday School. The seed was sown; my prayer was answered.

Sometime ago I experienced the healing of a growth which had been on my head for nine years. I was at the beauty shop one day, and while under the dryer I had a sharp pain in my head. When I arrived home, I asked my sister to look at the growth, and she said it was draining. I tried to apply the truths of Christian Science and was not fearful; but every time I went to the beauty shop the operator would ask me when I was going to see a doctor. Then the condition grew worse. My neck swelled, and I had a fever.

I called a Christian Science practitioner. She advised me to quit visiting the beauty shop and to do my hair myself. Then she said, "Expect a healing." The healing was not instantaneous because I had to learn to be patient and had to clear my thought of the belief of heredity. I became anxious and told my practitioner that the condition didn't seem to be healing and that I just had to get my hair cut and have a permanent. She told me to forget about the permanent, saying, "We are going to have a permanent healing." After three and one-half months I did get my healing; the growth disappeared.
