Yea and Nay

Christ Jesus said to his disciples, as recorded in the Sermon on the Mount, "Let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." Matt. 5:37; These words might be interpreted to indicate that we must say No to every form of error and Yes to every demand of Truth. The rule of Christian Science practice may be summed up in a few words: Deny the error and affirm the truth.

The basis of all creation is the fundamental truth that divine Love is the Father-Mother of the universe, including man, God's spiritual likeness. Love not only creates man, constitutes, sustains, and guides him, but cares for him throughout eternity. In this parent-child relationship of God and man, all is well. All is health, holiness, immortality. The natural outcome of this splendor of creation is praise to God. Every manifestation of God's being praises Him for the supreme harmony of His creation, which is entirely spiritual. God bestows this harmony on man, who is His reflection.

Mrs. Eddy states, "God's fatherliness as Life, Truth, and Love, makes His sovereignty glorious." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 234; This is the rhythm of creation "when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy." Job 38:7; This is the Yea of creation which we all must acknowledge and demonstrate. The entire error of a pseudo man formed from dust stems from ignorance of these great facts. Every false belief is only the aggressive suggestion that man is separated from God and is not cared for; we can dispel it by realizing the truth of God's loving care for man.
