One of the most precious blessings...

One of the most precious blessings resulting from the study of Christian Science has been the freedom from fear of people and from lack of ability. I have learned through my study that there is no limit to one's ability when he accepts his true heritage as the expression of God's being.

Shortly after beginning to work in a large office many years ago, I started having painful attacks, which affected my right side and hip. The difficulty became so severe that it was necessary for me to discontinue my work. Earnest metaphysical treatment was given b a Christian Science practitioner. The physical condition gradually began to improve, and within a year I realized a permanent healing.

My only desire throughout this time was to learn more of God and of my relationship to Him. Even though without funds or employment, I took the necessary steps to apply for class instruction. When our desire is sincere, no sense of lack can prevent the unfoldment of God's blessing. Before entering class later that year, I had received my healing; and I had been able to secure a new position, which supplied the funds needed for this priceless instruction.

As a family, we have witnessed man proofs of God's ever-present love. When one son was about eight years old, he was troubled with a trembling condition of his body that would come upon him quite suddenly. We were always grateful for the help of a practitioner during these times.

One summer evening the condition was more severe than it had ever been. We were unable to reach a practitioner at this time, and it was indeed a test of our faith in God's power to heal. I realized that in first duty was to "loose him, and let him go" (John 11:44 ).

I earnestly declared that because he was in reality a child of God, he had never been born into matter, did not live in it, and could not die out of it. I insisted that God was his only true Father and Mother and that he had no other origin.

The wonderful story of the Shunammite woman, found in II Kings, Chapter 4 , came to thought, and I knew that I too had to know that "it is well" with the child. The rest of the evening was spent in humble prayer to God.

By morning our son had fallen into a restful sleep and later awakened healed. On two occasions thereafter he expressed fear that this difficulty would return. We talked of God, who is the source of true activity and whose law alone governs the actions of His children. Fear was refused a place in consciousness, and our son has found complete freedom.

A few months before our third baby arrived, it appeared that I might lose it through a miscarriage. Several weeks were spent in quiet study of the Bible, the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, and the Christian Science Hymnal.

A thought that had helped me before our other boys were born sustained me at this time. This was that a child of God does not go through a period of development or growth, but is already complete and perfect and fully reflects the one Mind, God. The only true growth taking place was the unfoldment of this right concept of God's child in my own consciousness. The healing came during a joyous study of the hymns, which a practitioner had recommended.

I am grateful that our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, because of her loyalty to God, was able to give this beautiful and practical religion, Christian Science, to the world.— (Mrs.) Margaret R. Williams, Kirkwood, Missouri.
