The study and application of...
The study and application of Christian Science have so greatly influenced and harmonized my life that to refrain from expressing my heartfelt joy would be gross ingratitude.
Throughout the so-called formative years of my life I had the writings of our Leader as an unfailing light, directing my path. The efficacy of Christian Science has been proved to me and to my family many times.
The first instance of healing occurred while I was reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. For nearly twelve years I had been suffering from allergic conditions, which had necessitated my receiving daily injections in addition to abstaining from certain foods. However, I commenced a normal diet and dispensed with all material remedies when I saw the truth of this statement in the Bible (Matt. 6:24): "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon;" and of these in our textbook (p. 167), "We cannot serve two masters nor perceive divine Science with the material senses;" and, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." The healing was consummated then and there.
Through the ministrations of Christian Science a young member of the family and I were healed of incipient grippe. When it was realized that man lives, moves, and has his being in Mind, that this is his spiritual and only state, and that man as Mind's idea is the expression of health, holiness, and purity, fear was destroyed and instantaneous and complete healing came. This was assuredly the fulfillment of the promise found in Proverbs (1:33), "But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."
Within two days of its loss a valuable article was returned which appeared to be irretrievable. Christian Science removed all fear, enabling me to see the truth about the situation, and the demonstration was made. This great truth when correctly applied has brought many blessings into my experience.
For learning to love more, for the periodicals, the practitioners, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for the entire Christian Science movement I shall be eternally grateful, but especially so for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Stuart Grayson, New York, New York.
I should like to state that the healings included by my son in his testimony to the healing power and effects of Christian Science treatment are true and took place while he resided in my home.
Although I must admit that my beliefs are not in accord with Christian Science, I am enthusiastic in my praise of this worthy and practical religion.
Felix Grayson, M. D.
